It’s a bird, it’s plane it’s a SPIDER!!! Call AAA Termite & Pest Control!! It is amazing how a “big bug” can illicit such fear and panic, in both men and women. The only thing that is worse than finding a bug and having to kill it is finding a bug & LOSING said bug. Now your fears really start to run wild. In fact, many a pest control inspection in Memphis has started off with “I saw a spider and now I can’t find the spider!”
Even though we have some nasty tenants that live around these parts, aka brown recluse spider and pointed barbed running spider, they only move when you’re sleeping and are drawn to the oxygen that comes from your nose (the latter may or may not exist and MAY have been created to instill hysteria by the writer). The biggest of all the homewreckers (literally) are termites.
This is actual National Termite Awareness week; I’m telling you everyone gets their own week at some point or time http://entomologytoday.org/2015/03/16/termite-awareness-week/. Termites really are a pain and having termite protection in Memphis is more of a necessity that an afterthought. Termites cause over 5 billion (that’s right billions with a B) dollars’ worth of damage annually. So having a termite inspection is vital to protecting your home, but you already knew that (or, at least, you do now), but having a termite contract with AAA Termite & Pest Control offers more than simply providing termite protection for your home.
A lot has changed in 46 years. In 1971, when my mom and dad started our company they probably had no idea how many pesticides & treatment methods would come and go as technology, and research progressed. In fact, did you know that your “bug guy” has to get 30 CEU’s every three years to stay certified or licensed?
Each year your certified technician has to sit in class all day listening to lectures and participating in hands-on demonstrations for everything from application procedures to safety standards. All of that before he even sets foot on your property. Plus before he gets to sit in on a thrilling Continuing Education Class, he has to pass a state certification exam and all of this just so “he can walk around your house and leave in 15 minutes” (don’t worry we know what you say about us when you’re out with friends and picking on your poor defenseless “bug guy”). What you probably didn’t know is that, for the most part, the turnover rate in our local pest control industry is very low so you normally have the same tech year in and year out. Unfortunately, we can’t really brag about that. We had a guy move out of town and had to hire a brand new guy SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO. That’s correct our newest tech is Billy Brumlow, and he has been with us since 1999. Don’t even get me started with how long John Perry & I have been around. Needless to say asking customers not to disturb the dinosaurs and allow them to feed on the gel bait was a tougher sell than offering general pest control or termite protection in Memphis today.
When you’re getting your termite inspection in Memphis (remember when we simply walk around your home and leave within 15 minutes), you’re also getting another set of ears and eyes on your property. They are obviously looking for signs of termite infestation or termite damage, but they are also looking at the property for other things that might contribute to termites, such as wood to ground contact, moisture issues, mulch piled too high or too close to the home to name a few. Since they are already there, they often catch things that aren’t termite related, such as ants, wasps & spiders. (Finally, this long winded guy is going to get to the title “Heroes don’t always wear a cape”) On a recent inspection, Billy Brumlow was “walking around a house, trying to get done in under 15 minutes” (see, words hurt when they are said to make fun of someone) and heard a hissing noise. I know the conclusion your mind is racing to, and it wasn’t a snake. We do run into our share of snakes in all areas of town and trust me you don’t want to know how often. In fact, the hissing wasn’t even from our customer’s home; it was from the next door neighbors home. Their gas line had ruptured, and gas had started spewing. Billy immediately went to both our customer’s front door and the home where the gas was spewing, and no one was home. He then called the office and explained the situation, and we contacted Germantown police (not the 911 number) and calmly explained the situation and even told them that we weren’t sure who to call but we assumed they would tell us. They said to stay away and ask others to stay away, and they’d be there shortly. In less than two minutes Germantown Fire & Police were on the scene and had secured the area. Now I’m not saying the whole neighborhood would have gone KaBoom, but it was a cold rainy morning and “we do try and get back in our trucks within 15 minutes before we head to the next house to wander around”. Billy took the time to report it, not because he had to but because he wanted to. Billy went back later that week to take a picture next to the meter (okay he didn’t go back, I made him & trust me I almost never get him to smile for a picture with a brand new gas meter). I’m happy to say that Billy isn’t the exception to the rule, AAA Termite & Pest Control has a wonderful office staff. Bari Eisman (please don’t tell her I said something nice about her), Linda Long, Jessica Autry and Amanda Crenshaw are always eager to answer your questions about termite control options and/or general pest control issues in Memphis and the surrounding areas. Johnny Perry even lives waaaaaay out in Atoka so we can even help you out in Tipton County. Jeff Bittner is literally all over Memphis, Germantown, Collierville, East Memphis and all places in between even Atoka to Frayser Jeff performs termite inspection clearance letters for realtors each and every day.
